  • Execution in Kurdistan(Iran)

Iranian photographer Jahangir Razmi, left, took 70 pictures of an execution in Kurdistan on Aug. 27, 1979. One picture (No. 20, below) won the Pulitzer Prize. It was, however, awarded to an unnamed photographer -- the only anonymous recipient in the 90-year history of the award. Mr. Razmi preserved 27 of the photos on a contact sheet and stowed it away in his home.See photos

Iran hanged three men

Posted by MEHDI on August 7, 2007

Tehran, Iran, Aug. 06 – Iranian authorities hanged three men in the south-eastern 3man hangedprovince of Sistan-va-Baluchistan on Monday, state media reported.

The men were identified as Abdul-Aziz Ismaeil Zehi, Abdul-Jamal Shahbakhsh and Ali-Akbar Shahbakhsh.

The official state broadcasting corporation IRIB said in a report on its website that the men were hanged earlier in the day in a prison in the provincial capital Zahedan.

It said that they had been convicted of drug smuggling and taking part in armed attacks.

Iranian authorities routinely execute dissidents on bogus charges such as armed robbery and drug trafficking.
